The legend of the child (The Onus Series)
It had certainly been a long time since I read a fiction novel which I could have devoured page after page. But D.L Anderson’s The Legend of the Child changed that. It has every ingredient which one looks for in a supernatural book; mystery, thrill, romance, humour, deadly villains and a valiant protagonist. Rae short for Rahale lives with her mother in a secluded farm in Kansas. Life is uneventful and pretty much the same for her for the first 16 years, until one day an uncle arrives at their doorstep and starts living with them. This Uncle is actually her father who knows that the time has come when Rae will reach her true potential and hence is bound to be chased by evil powers. Thereafter begins the adventurous journey of Rae’s life.
The story is written from the first person perspective of Rae. She is witty, sensitive and fits in the frame of any normal teenage girl.
“My mother's head snapped in my direction with a furious look. If it was possible, I'm sure it would have rotated around three hundred sixty degrees like she was in a horror movie.”
Rae’s witty inner thoughts when she is scolded by her mother.
She is an ideal protagonist who scores over other characters with perfection in this first book of the series.
This is the first book in the Onus Series and I look forward to reading the sequel. Being a great fan of the supernatural genre, I would also recommend it to all the readers who take pride in calling themselves Potter-ites or live in the magical place called Narnia.
